Just when you think you’re at the top of your game, God crushes you and brings you back to the very dirt where you came from!
Why? Why would God do this? Does he not love us?
I know this because this is what happens to me, over, and over, and over again.
I started working over a decade ago as a lowly rank-and-file employee with a fair amount of work and a fair amount of wages. I couldn’t even afford a Starbucks drink with my salary, so I drank the regular 3-in-1. Life back then was simple.
Then I worked my way up the corporate ladder, and before you know it, things changed. I can now afford expensive cups of coffee and have people to manage under me. But life is no longer that simple. With a fair amount of power I had, came a really big head and an inability to lead people properly.
Then, faster than the speed of lightning, everything was taken away from me. I was back to square one, asking God, “Why did you take away my Starbucks coffee? Why did you give me a taste of something so delicious, and then, take it all away?”
And to my disbelief, God answered. “Child, you forgot about Me. I needed to remind you of My love. I needed to remind you of your worth. You are so much more than a cup of coffee, so much more than what you think you are worth. You need to start over.”
And then, I realized something. Going back to the very bottom isn’t so bad. Starting over isn’t so bad. And I now know, that even when I reach another peak in my life, it’s not what I achieve that matters. It’s who I’m with – and I’m glad than now, God is with me in my journey.
